Recycling aluminum can save energy

 Friday, 14 September 2018

Aluminum metal is sustainable, which means it can be recycled countless times without material damage. There may be no more cheaper, more energy-efficient metals than recycled aluminum. Aluminum is a 100% recyclable material, and it takes only 60 days to throw it from the aluminum can to the recycling station until it is recycled.
Although aluminum cans are a common form of recycling, aluminum tools, aluminum construction parts, aluminum automotive parts, and even aluminum aircraft parts are recyclable.
Regardless of the type of aluminum that is to be made, the way to recycle aluminum is far more energy efficient than the way the raw material is smelted to obtain aluminum. Recycling aluminum can save about 90%-95% of energy compared to smelting aluminum from bauxite.
Recycling one pound of aluminum (equivalent to 33 aluminum cans) saves 7 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity. Using this amount of electricity, you can smelt bauxite to get an aluminum can
